When an ingrown toenail is not taken cared of using conservative methods, a more invasive but simple nail surgery procedure can be performed. A mild local anesthesia is applied which will numb client from the pain. Depending on the situation both sides of the nail root may be removed; a secondary measure is by adding special medication that will prevent the ingrown from regrowing. Due to the simplicity of the procedure, the nail edges will heal usually in a couple of weeks and the possibility of getting ingrown again will be exponentially lowered.
